ideastream serves the people of Northeast Ohio as a trusted and dynamic multimedia source for illuminating the world around us. Publicly supported and locally owned, ideastream is indispensable and highly valued for its unique ability to strengthen our community. https://www.ideastream.org/about/careers
Ideastream is a non-profit organization. Being a non-profit can present funding challenges for internship programs. Ideastream has been used a creative approach to attract talent to their internship. Everything from offering a part time schedule to paying for parking can help attract students to a program that is unable to pay for the experience. Ideastream also offers unique opportunities in the region due to its national connections and programs.
Amira Nasrallah – Human Resources and Board of Governance Coordinator - Amira is new to running an internship program. Her focus in putting her mark on the program was to make it more streamlined and to provide the best experience possible to the students. Handshake is her go to resource for recruiting.
Internships are offered year-round and positions can be viewed on the careers page of the website. Amira likes to focus on continual learning, and they offer unique types of experiences like broadcasting and journalism.
Amira welcomes the interns with a goody bag of ideastream swag and gives them a tour on day one. Onboarding involves coordinating with IT and the playhouse security team. The supervisors train the team members on the tasks that each department does.
Willingness to learn and genuine interest in and connection to the mission of ideastream are key traits required to be successful at ideastream.
